Consumption and bill estimates
Power describes the rate at which a device uses energy; energy also depends on operating time. A 1,000-watt appliance running for one hour uses about 1 kWh. The electricity-bill and kWh tools combine appliance wattage, daily hours and days, then apply an entered tariff. Real bills can also include slabs, fixed charges, taxes, demand charges and meter rules.
Solar system planning
The solar calculator converts daily energy demand and effective sun hours into an approximate array size, then applies a planning margin for losses. Shading, roof direction, temperature, inverter efficiency, battery charging, local weather and utility rules matter. Use the output for an initial conversation, not equipment purchasing or structural work without a site assessment.
Battery, inverter and UPS runtime
Backup tools estimate stored energy from voltage and amp-hour capacity, then account for an efficiency assumption and connected load. Battery chemistry, age, discharge limits, inverter idle use and surge demand reduce usable runtime. A result that exceeds the equipment's power rating is not safe simply because the energy arithmetic appears sufficient.
Generators, circuits and EV charging
Generator sizing needs running load plus motor starting surge and an appropriate safety margin. Ohm's law connects voltage, current and resistance for idealized calculations. EV charging cost uses battery energy, charging efficiency and tariff. Electrical protection, conductor size, earthing, permits and manufacturer requirements are outside these simple models.

Common unit and safety mistakes
Do not confuse watts with watt-hours or kilowatts with kilowatt-hours. Convert minutes to hours before calculating energy and divide watts by 1,000 before expressing kilowatts. Use the tariff unit shown on the bill, including the correct currency. For backup systems, distinguish battery capacity from inverter power rating and include surge load. Never use an online estimate as permission to work on energized circuits or to bypass manufacturer limits. High-voltage wiring, generator changeover, solar interconnection and battery protection can create fire, shock and carbon-monoxide risks; planning and installation should follow current local codes and qualified professional advice.
