Your assumptions

Before you calculate

Read the scope and timing below. Defaults are examples, not personalised recommendations. Inputs are processed in your browser and are not saved or sent to a server by these tools. Results are cleared when inputs change.

EPF estimates an account balance; EPS estimates a limited pension formula; NPS models a market-linked retirement and annuity scenario. They are not interchangeable.

Use your official statements and verify decisions with the relevant authority. No forecast or pension award is guaranteed.

Use your passbook, not your total salary

Enter the opening EPF balance and the employee and employer amounts actually credited to EPF. Do not add the separate pension/EPS contribution to the employer EPF amount. Employee voluntary contributions can be included; administrative charges cannot. This avoids assuming every worker has the same wage ceiling or contribution arrangement.

Method and timing

This forward projection starts on 1 April with a fully credited opening balance. Each monthly contribution is added at month end and earns interest from the next month. Monthly interest is opening monthly balance × annual rate / 12; it is accumulated without earning further interest until the March annual credit. Contributions increase once each April by your chosen percentage.

The default 8% is an illustrative assumption, not a claim about the current notified rate. Change it to the rate you want to model. Future rates are unknown. A mid-year start, delayed remittances, withdrawals, taxable-interest accounting, inactivity rules and EPFO rounding are not modelled.

Worked example

With zero opening balance, ₹1,800 employee EPF plus ₹550 employer EPF monthly, zero growth and 8% interest for one April–March year: contributions are ₹28,200. Interest is ₹2,350 × (11 + 10 + … + 0) × 8% / 12 = ₹1,034. Projected closing balance is ₹29,234.

EPF is not EPS

This balance projection does not calculate pension benefits. Check contribution figures against your passbook and use the EPS tool separately for a limited pension formula estimate. Zero projection years returns your opening balance without contributions or interest.
